Trio’s shared retreat

Location: Cairo, Egypt

A young couple with three children owns a cozy vacation home in Cairo, Egypt, that they visit every other year for a few weeks. The home has two bedrooms and one bathroom, with the children sharing a room. To create a serene retreat for their kids in the bustling city, we combined nature's calming essence with urban living by using earthy color palette like sage green, calming beige, and natural white oak to achieve a tranquil atmosphere, making the space inviting and cozy.

Despite the challenge of having four columns at each corner, careful planning allowed for seamless integration to conceal them without compromising functionality.

By incorporating a bunk and trundle bed in full size, space is maximized. Additionally, a small floating desk with floating shelves is included to provide an area for kids to study and craft. On the opposite wall, three wardrobe armoire units cater to the children's storage needs. The column is skillfully concealed using a shallow wardrobe unit that complements the other units.

Various lighting layers, such as ambient ceiling lights and LED strip lights, brighten the room, creating a serene and functional retreat that harmonizes urban living with natural elements amidst Cairo's bustling city life.
